EFFECTS OF IRRIGATION WATER QUALITY ON THE STAND OF BEAN CROP

The objective of this research was to evaluate the effects of irrigation water quality on the final stand of the bean plants. The experiment was carried out in 16 drainage lysimeters Installed on the experimental area of the Viosa Federal University. The treatments were arranged on a factorial scheme with four electrical conductivity levels of irrigation water (CE= 0.8, 1.4, 2.0 and 2.6 ds/m at 25 C), obtained by addition of sodium chloride and dehydrated calcium chloride to the natural water with electrical conductivity of 0.05 dS/m at 25C, and four leaching fractions (FL = 0.10, 0.15, 0,20 and 0.25 of the irrigation water depth). The randomized experimental block design was used with four replications. The results obtained showed that the plant final stand was drastically reduced with salinity increase.
