Estimation of erosion preventing effectiveness of new soil conditioners

Application of polymers - aggregate-stabilizers is one of modern methods for radical stabilization of upper layers of eroded lands. The efficiency of polymer and its doze is determined mainly by the degree of its positive influence on erosion-resistance properties of protected surface. The erosionpreventive stability of soil can be estimated by the amount of scouring-velocity of the flow (Vs.). New composition of perspective polymers - interpolyelectrolytes (IPECs), which were used as suppressants of toxic dust and erosion in some regions of Russia. The experiment was conducted on sandy soddy- podzolic soils (Vladimir region). IPECs were applied on surface of plots in dozes: 1, 2, 4 l per m2. The depth of IPECs penetration was about 3 sm. IPECs promoted the stability of soil structure: the size of an average weighted diameter of crumbs grew in 1,4-1,8 times; approximately in 10 times grew the water stability of soil; up to 2 times decreased the content of the finest fraction of water stable aggregates, and just these particles have the highest flowing capability and, as a rule, are enriched with pollutants. As a result of these changes the value of Vs has increased in 3 times. In another experiment fill furrows were treated with IPECs, after IPECs application Vs increased in 1,5-2 times, the muddiness of water flow decreased in 6 times, when velocity of the flow was lower, than Vs, and in 7 times, than it was higher.
