HYPERSPECTRAL MANGO RIPENESS DETECTIONPublished by the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers, St. Joseph, Michigan www.asabe.org Citation: Paper number 023140, 2002 ASAE Annual Meeting . (doi: 10.13031/2013.9629) @2002Authors: Federico Hahn Keywords: Mango maturity, discriminant analysis, mango soluble solids content, multispectral analysis Mango is one of the main fruits grown in the country, being Mexico the main world exporter of fresh produce. However in the processing industry mango ripeness has to be detected. The present paper illustrates the use of multispectral imaging in the prediction of mango ripeness. An Agro-Imager radiometer was used to sample each fruit once the main discriminant bands were detected. Several algorithms were tested searching for a high accuracy and encouraging results were obtained. Green, yellow and red color were sampled with a camera and correlated against BRIX and mango firmness. (Download PDF) (Export to EndNotes)
