Precision Agriculture is the latest technology for managing field crop production. The development of precision technologies to reduce the use of off-farm inputs, supported by the extensive application of information and mechatronic technologies, including sensor fusion and intelligent control, has become a major issue in precision agriculture. Plant factories can provide much better conditions for implementing precision agriculture since the environment of a plant factory is more controllable and observable than that of open-field agriculture. Microprecision agriculture has been proposed for use with the advent of greenhouse automation and plant factories. This paper introduces the latest development in specific microprecision technologies, specifically local temperature control and active soil moisture control.
