Thermal Defoliation of Cotton

Thermal defoliation by hot air treatment resulted in defoliation rates nearly equal to those resulting from conventional chemical defoliation. Thermal defoliation also resulted in complete mortality of late season insect pests in two varieties and two field conditions. No damage to seed or fiber properties could be attributed to thermal defoliation, but application expenses are higher.
