The adaptation of split-sex, phase feeding practice by swine producers has been effective, but slow. One reason is due to the limitation of the logistics associated with the feed delivery system. The limitation is of greatest concern for the small to moderate size swine operations that cannot separate barrows and gilts into separate rooms or buildings. A feed delivery system for each row or side of pens within a room does not seem practical or economical. Therefore, the objective of this paper will be to diagram a feed delivery system and the dietary phase schedule necessary to implement a split-sex, phase feeding program using a 2 room, 2 bin finishing facility. This paper allows small to moderate sized swine operations the capabilities to adapt split-sex, phase feeding during the finishing period and minimizing nutrient excretion.
