A common technique for irrigation scheduling is to budget water in the root zone of
the crop (Prajamwong, 1997; Singh, 1992; Smajstrla et al. 1988). Irrigation
scheduling in humid regions using water budgeting techniques requires at least a
two-container model. This is a result of the large contribution to the crops
evapotranspiration (ET) from rainfall, in the region of the root zone that is not
irrigated.
