EDIS utilizes a database management system to store all content associated with this collection. A tool based on Java components is used to create and edit publications. The system generates HTML, PDF, XML, and multimedia presentations dynamically from the database. An expert print program creates print-quality PDF formatted documents by automatically handling page layout. EDIS contains over 4000 extension publications from the Florida Cooperative Extension Service. The EDIS web site (http://edis.ifas.ufl.edu) receives 20,000 visitors a day.
