The agribusiness and food system is global and is an interdependent chain composed of complex industries. Comprehending the tasks of managerial decision-making within agribusiness and food firms in this complex global system is the goal of Strategic Management in Agribusiness -- offered as Agricultural Economics 601 in the Department of Agricultural, Environmental, and Developmental Economics, within the College of Food, Agricultural and Environmental Sciences at The Ohio State University.

The course is a "capstone" course and a third writing course for the major in Agribusiness and Applied Economics. It is paperless and presented totally on the Web at http://aede.osu.edu/class/aede601. Numerous links are provided for real-life contact with agribusinesses and allied industries. Most resources students need for this course can be found on the website. The site is designed as a community for the students to learn about what is happening in the course and about their fellow classmates. This course emphasizes the use of personal computers in research and resource management, and in communication with a large group. All assignments are submitted both traditionally and electronically, this allows the students to review one anothers work and the professors to keep an archive of examples for future classes.
