Static Pressure and Temperature Controlled Ventilation System for a Broiler Research FacilityPublished by the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers, St. Joseph, Michigan www.asabe.org Citation: Pp. 396-402 in Proceedings of the World Congress of Computers in Agriculture and Natural Resources (13-15, March 2002, Iguacu Falls, Brazil) 701P0301.(doi:10.13031/2013.8358)Authors: R.S. Gates Keywords: Environment Control, Research Facility Design, Poultry, Automation An automated ventilation control system, consisting of two independent subsystems for static pressure and temperature control, was developed to maintain environment of a broiler research room in the University of Kentucky Poultry Research Facility. The facility is used to evaluate effects of broiler dietary manipulation on bird performance, and volatilization of ammonia from broiler litter and the building. Salient features of the design are presented. After two years of operation, the system has proven to be robust and trouble-free. Dynamic, real-time building gaseous emission data can be obtained by recording room ammonia concentration, static pressure difference, and exhaust fan speeds. (Download PDF) (Export to EndNotes)
