ENDEAVOUR2 Livestock and Paddock Database Based on a Farm MapPublished by the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers, St. Joseph, Michigan www.asabe.org Citation: Pp. 370-373 in Proceedings of the World Congress of Computers in Agriculture and Natural Resources (13-15, March 2002, Iguacu Falls, Brazil) 701P0301.(doi:10.13031/2013.8354)Authors: James W. Oltjen and Graeme Ogle Keywords: Farm Management, Livestock Production Systems,GIS/Land Use ENDEAVOUR2 is a time-based database for recording stock and paddock information. Based on a farm map, paddocks, herd locations, water reticulation details and associated events may be recorded. One may move through time and see the changes that have occurred on the farm. A comprehensive list of events is available for use, but custom ones can also be created. All recording is carried out directly through the farm map using a mouse. Reports may be over any time period, and specialized reports include stock reconciliation; paddock productivity; live weight gains; histories for individual animals, herds or paddocks; the amount of nutrients applied to a paddock; or customized. Cooperative Extension personnel at the University of California carried out a comprehensive review and the program was considered very powerful in its flexible event structure and its ability to integrate events with spatial and temporal relationships through the farm map.
