Abstract. With the development of animal husbandry and the needs of ecological and environmental protection, the demand for forage is also increasing rapidly. However, the degree of mechanization of forage in China is not very high, the cost of general large forage packers is also high, and the forage is very loose and not easy to be bundled, resulting in various problems such as high transportation cost, large occupation of storage space, transportation deficit and so on. According to the characteristics and conditions of the above forage, the binding device is used to tie the forage into bales, Squeezing forage into high-density bales is conducive to reducing the storage space and transportation cost of forage. Therefore, it can greatly increase the economic benefits of forage and the popularization of forage mechanical harvest. By studying the knotting principle of the knotter, the shape characteristics of forage and the economic situation of herdsmen, a semi-automatic forage binding device suitable for forage binding by using four-bar transmission mechanism and knotter is designed . The basic components of forage strapping device are described, and the movement process of forage strapping device is briefly described. The crank rocker mechanism matched with sprocket is analyzed and designed, and the size and motion characteristics of four-bar mechanism are analyzed in detail. The design of the forage feeding mechanism - the shift claw is explained, so that it can move according to the fixed track and feed the forage under the knotter.
