Estimation of evapotranspiration in a zone with residual water irrigation using metric

Abstract. The administration of water in agriculture in Mexico continues to be the central issue in efficient use. The state of Hidalgo receives treated water from the third largest treatment plant in the world to supply the irrigation of three of the main irrigation districts. The objective of this work was to estimate the real evapotranspiration of a crop, using the METRIC Effluent tool remotely and to compare the results with the Heargreaves-Samani model in the Hidalgo Mexico area irrigated by treated water. Methodology. Landsat 7 satellite images were used to estimate point evapotranspiration using EEFlux and MTRIC. To analyze the results, the Hargreaves-Samani model was used to estimate the same variable using normal climatologist. The results indicate that both methodologies are useful in estimating irrigation requirements for crops; The use of METRIC also allows spatial tracking in the monitoring and discrimination of data on the earth's surface, in addition to the practicality of combining with other layers in spatial tools. For its part, the model that uses climatological normals is more stable during the year, although its difficulty lies in the databases. Conclusion. The methodology exposed by remote sensing is a robust tool not only in estimating the irrigation requirement in agricultural areas, but once calculated and deployed in a geographic information system, it opens possibilities for the monitoring and management of resources, especially the hydric.
