Abstract. Grass braid is one of the forage preparation methods in Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. Herdsmen there make braids of pasture and put them on the grass racks for easy airing, which can effectively avoid the rain of forage grass in the process of spreading and drying and improve the quality of forage grass. In order to liberate the productive forces and improve the processing efficiency of the braiding of grass, this paper, aiming at the mechanized braiding of grass, mainly takes the tensile strength that the braids can withstand as the main index, puts forward the quality evaluation method of the mechanical braids, and designs the special fixture for the raids stretching. The device mainly includes a connecting seat, an upper gland, a lower gland and a locking screw. In order to ensure that the gland does not rotate with the tie down screw in the process of twisting the screw, the lower gland is provided with two U-shaped grooves of different groove widths, the tie down screw is provided with a groove equal to the width of the lower gland, and the size of the raised part of the upper gland is equal to the U-shaped groove of the lower gland. In this way, while the locking screw is rotated, the gland is only translational so as to realize the effective clamping of the end of the braid. The design of special fixture for grass braid effectively speeds up the standardization process of mechanical making of grass braid.
