Abstract. This standard incorporates procedures and methods for determining water distribution uniformity for a highly maneuverable center pivot ancillary span, also known as a swing arm corner. These procedures also apply to standard center pivot spans containing variable rate irrigation technologies.

A center pivot span typically travels in a fixed circular operation. The span's radial position determines the path of travel with respect to the center point. This movement, in turn, permits optimal water capacity or distribution, which can be determined through standard mathematics and procedures such as represented by the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE, 2020). However, ASABE doesn't cover measuring water distribution uniformity under an ancillary span, which is irregular or radially variable in relation to the center point (ASABE, 2020, p. 5).

This standard includes procedural adjustments and methods that best determines water distribution uniformity for an ancillary span. This standard is intended to be used in conjunction with the ASABE standard and its latest available version, with some exceptions as noted herein.
