Abstract. In order to improve the automation level of forage planter and solve the problem of low accuracy in plot test, a self-propelled forage ditcher was designed. The machine is mainly composed of walking part, control system and operation system. The power is provided by two brushless DC motors. It can turn flexibly by relying on the principle of differential speed. It can turn around in situ. The whole machine has good straightness and the ditching depth can be adjusted in real time; Then, the running deviation rate, maximum climbing angle, ditching depth, turning radius and maximum operation speed were tested.
