Abstract. This project studied the bunching mechanical properties of leek, taking which as a example for leafy vegetable so as to provide theoretical reference for the study of mechanical properties of other vegetables as well as the development of baling machines for leafy vegetables. The injury of vegetables during bunching process is investigated. Moreover, the shear test, compression test, and the relationship between the average shear stress on the yield point of the bundled vegetables as well as that between the loading speed and the average pressure of the yield point were established.
