ABSTRACT. Recent test results for two major agricultural tractor brands were obtained from the National Tractor Test Laboratory (NTTL) in Nebraska. Trends in fuel efficiency, PTO horsepower, weight, power density, and slip during tests were plotted and analyzed relative to each other using test data from a recent twenty-two years. The plots and analyses show the extent of the changes over time and whether the changes were statistically significant. Additional analyses studied some of those trends as affected by chassis or transmission type. The results include showing that tractor fuel efficiencies have increased with time over the 1997 to 2018 time period. They also show that tractor fuel efficiencies tend to increase with tractor weight.
