Abstract. Grass braid is one of the main production methods for drying herbage in Qinghai-Tibet plateau. At present, the braid is mainly made by hands, which has high labor intensity and low production efficiency. In this paper, a braid technology of mechanized grass and a special forming device are put forward. In this paper, a mechanized braid technology and a special forming device are put forward. The process flow of twisting, plying and traction is adopted to make braid. The grass braid forming device mainly includes twisting cylinder, traction roller, and plying rotating cylinder, etc. The analysis shows that the rotating speed of the twisting cylinder should be less than the plying rotating speed. The device is used to make a double braid for loose grass after harvest, which improves the tightness of braid, greatly reduces labor intensity and improves production efficiency.
