Abstract. The straw bio-reactor can achieve high output, excellent quality and pollution-free vegetable products, but the labor intensity is high and the operation efficiency is low. Aiming at the agronomic requirements of straw bio-reactor, a complete set of equipment for straw bio-reactor was developed in this paper. The machine was mainly composed of a trenching device, a discharging device, a soil covering device, and a compaction forming device, so that multiple processes such as straw reactor trenching, straw discharging, uniform spraying of bacteria, straw covering, and soil compaction forming can be completed through these devices. The object of the operation was the soil after rotary tilling, the upper layer was loose, and the lower layer was hard soil. The whole machine adopted a traction operation method of a loosening shovel to break the soil and a ditch opener to trenching. The joint simulation with EDEM/FEM coupling algorithm on the soil shovel and the concrete opener was carried out to obtain the optimal shape parameters of the bottom surface and check the strength of soil shovel and opener under the optimal parameters. The key device of the whole machine was tested for ditching and covering performance. A single factor test was performed on the three key factors affecting the difference in shovel plough height, forward speed, and angle of soil covering that affected the operation of the trenching and covering device, and based on the single factor, through the Design-Expert 8.0.5b software, a mathematical model of the performance index of ditching and soil covering operation, the difference between the height of the shovel, the advance speed, and the angle of covering soil was constructed. Finally, the best combination of working parameters of the trenching and soil covering device was obtained by analyzing the influence of 3 factors on the power consumption, the amount of straw disturbance, and the soil coverage difference rate, and optimizing the parameters through experiments.
