Abstract. Maintaining a suitable and consistent seeding depth can help achieve the uniform and consistent emergence of seeds, and is beneficial to increase yield. Depth control is mainly achieved by controlling downforce. In order to understand the actual working process of the electro-hydraulic control system, this article conducted real-time monitoring of the downforce at different speeds in the field, and analyzed the collected data. When the set value of downforce is 3000N, the measured value is basically between 500 and 1500N. The reason is that the set value is greater than the external load during the movement of the seeding unit. Because the working pressure of the hydraulic system is determined by the external load, the system cannot adjust the downforce value to the target value. With the increase of speed, the measured value of downforce showed a downward trend as a whole. The adaptive adjustment of downforce affects both the seeding depth and the compactness of the soil around the seeds. A suitable downforce value should be selected based on the agronomic requirements of seeding depth and compactness. It‘s meaningless to select a large value that is much bigger than the required value.
