Abstract. Digitalization has affected all areas of business and industry, in agriculture it is known as Farming 4.0. The increasing adoption of ISOBUS is standardizing not only the interface between machines and implements, but also data formats including standardized handling of prescription maps and as applied maps.

Data exchange was previously accomplished by manually moving the data on cards or USB sticks, increasingly as FMIS moved to the cloud this allowed data to move over telematics systems directly from the field. Telematics allows for continuous data exchange between the cloud and the machine enabling more flexibility, faster communication and new features and services.

Products like 365FarmNet and CLAAS TELEMATICS offer many features to more efficiently manage farm operations with CLAAS machinery. These includes the ability to monitor the progress and status of the machines in the field, to receive application maps instantly or to help the farmers save time in the office by automatic documentation of jobs, to mention only a few features.

A limitation of today‘s cloud and telematics solutions like CLAAS TELEMATICS is that they are usually specific to the manufacturer‘s machines and cloud ecosystem. In reality, customers rarely have only one color in their fleet and software or services from multiple providers. This forces them to maintain their fleet in multiple cloud solutions, often duplicating effort and inputs.

When it comes to using agronomic data farmers have even more challenges. They often need to convert the data to standard formats like ISOXML or Shape-Files in one system and re-import it into another system for further processing; while industry standards like ADAPT may improve this situation, this manual process is still very cumbersome and prone to failures creating customer frustration.

Discussions with other OEMs in AEF, AEM and CEMA – amongst others, show interest for further standardization of these interfaces to enable support for mixed brand fleets for farm-management and agronomic purposes.

The presentation will show DataConnect - a solution developed jointly by CLAAS, John Deere, CNH and 365FarmNet to allow customers to directly connect the OEM telemetry clouds in a simple and secure manner.
