The automation camellia oleifera shell-nut separation equipment based on belt conveyor

Abstract. Camellia oleifera is unique edible oil woody plant of China and has more than 2,000 years of cultivation history. In order to make the final processed product - camellia oil‘s quality achieve a higher standard, it is of importance to Control the quality of raw materials. The husk of camellia is oil-free and only contains lignin, pentose,tannin, saponin and other ingredients, so husks and nuts must be separated when processing oil. However, today the fresh camellia oleifera after several days of drying, cracking of the shell and then manually separating the husk and nuts, that depends on the weather to a great extent. The camellia would mold if encounter rainy days. Therefore, the mechanization and automation shell-nut separation technology and equipment of fresh camellia olefera are in urgent need. This paper mainly designs a set of automated equipment that uses the hobs and cylinders to break the camellia oleifera, and separate the nuts and shell with belt conveyor. The shelling rate of equipment achieved 99.3% and damage rate controlled below 4%. Sorting the shell and nuts based on the different friction on the tilted belt, when the belt at 60r/min speed and 500mm height different then the sorting rate achieved 93.92%.
