Abstract. Eggshell membrane (ESM) is usually recognized as an industrial waste material, but the researches using ESM have been attempted to find a better approach in various fields. Eggshell membrane that between the eggshell and egg white has an entangled structures structure of interwoven micro-fibers and it is composed of natural protein, collagen Ⅰ, and collagen Ⅴ. The previous research using ESM mainly used an absorbent and template with maintaining their micro-structure. However, the innovative strategies are needed for development of advanced ESM based platforms because the application is quite limited due to their several disadvantages. To address this issue, we propose nanoengineered eggshell membrane based platforms using nanotechnologies including nanomaterials and nanofabrication. These nanoengineered eggshell membrane based platforms will be used in various fields such as agriculture, biomedical, and environmental engineering.
