Identifying the impact of various rainfall levels on uncovered lignocellulosic feedstock is critical for properly maintaining and storing viable feedstock for cellulosic biorefineries. An understanding of the interaction between the initial moisture content and rainfall volume provides an understanding of the moisture absorption rate. This study focused on the direct measurement of change in feedstock mass and moisture based on various rainfall quantities applied and environmental factors. Results highlight daily and weekly mass values and spatiotemporal moisture distribution based upon rainfall volumes.
