Abstract. With the improvement of the living level of people, greenhouse vegetables have been accepted. Fertilization is an important approach to increase the vegetable yields. Foliar fertilization is one of the most significant ways of fertilization, which has the characteristic of quick effect. However, at present, due to little research on the fertilization of foliage of vegetables, the level of intelligence is limited. Thus, it is of great significance to design a control system of fertilization for the foliage of vegetables.

This paper proposes the system of fertilization for the foliage of vegetables. The system consisted of two parts, a lower computer and an upper computer. The lower computer was divided into two parts, robot movement and fertilization. In the part of the robot movement, a linear CCD and laid strips that the robot moved along were used to achieve autonomous movement. In the part of the fertilization, ultrasonic sensors were used to assist the beginning of fertilization. The area of planting of vegetables was set based on the requirements of the system. The robot fertilized on some roads and the other roads were not. The upper computer was used to select the mode of movement of the robot, acquire and display the data of sensors, display the information of some state of the robot and control the robot under the manual mode.

The system had a relatively high level of intelligence and could fertilize more accurately. It is suitable for the automation of agricultural production.
