Abstract. Gated pipe irrigation is an advanced technology which can irrigate precisely. The orifice water dispenser is one of the important equipments in the gated pipe irrigation system. Thus the study on orifice water dispenser is significant for the application of gated pipe irrigation. The rectangle orifice water dispenser is taken as example and the principle of orifices free outflow is discussed in this paper. The outlet opening degree and the pressure in front of the outlet are taken as the impact factor. Through the experiments, the relation of the outlet flow - pressure - the degree of opening has been found. Based on this study, the effects of the opening degree on the pressure are discussed in the paper. Studies have shown that optimal-designed outlet pressure sensitive coefficient is small and relatively stable, which can be applied widely. The results will provide the theoretical basis for optimizing the structure of water dispenser.
