Analysis of normal force of permanent magnet linear synchronous motor for machine tools

Abstract. Normal force of permanent magnet linear synchronous motor (PMLSM) is the main reason for the mechanical structure deformation of machine driving system, so the normal force is a problem worth studying when the PMLSM is applied to CNC machine tools. Considering precision of the normal force, the electromagnetic force of PMLSM was analyzed by the virtual displacement method. First select a small virtual displacement, and then calculate the system energy difference between the two virtual displacement, the ratio of the energy difference and displacement was the electromagnetic force. The normal force of PMLSM was periodic, the periodicity was a pole pitch. With the change of the displacement of the X direction, the normal force was fluctuant, the range of fluctuation was 3450N~3780N. The ratio of the difference value of normal force fluctuation and average value of normal force was about 9.1%, Compared with the finite element one, this new method has verified its accuracy and validity. Thereby it is one method for the analysis of normal force in PMLSM.
