Abstract. Poria cocos is one of the most popular herbs in China, commonly know as Fuling in its Chinese name. The processing of Poria cocos is divided into pretreatment, peeling, cutting and drying. The pretreatment and drying are the core parts. But the effects of pretreatments on Poria cocos‘s drying kinetics have rarely been reported and the mechanisms are not clear. So in current work, the effects of different pretreatments on drying behavior of Poria cocos were investigated. The results showed that: 1) The Weibull distribution model could precisely simulate the drying process of Poria cocos treated by different pretreatments with coefficient of determination R2 in the range of 0.994-0.997. 2) Sweating pretreatment and steaming pretreatment could improve the drying efficiency, promote moisture diffusion in the drying process.
