Experimental Study on Operating Parameters of air-suction precision cottonseed-metering device based on bench test

Abstract.

In order to guarantee the emergence rate of cotton, generally two to four cotton seeds are required for each hole. An air-suction precision cottonseed-metering device adopts the unique "triangle" shaped hole distribution, which meet the requirement of seed numbers. Aiming at studying the effect of structural parameters of seed meter on seeding performance and obtaining the optimum operating parameters of the air-suction precision cottonseed-metering device, an experiment was conducted on the type JPS-12 computer vision performance sticky belt test stand. The operating parameters are evaluated by the chamber pressure, the suction hole diameter of seeding plate, and the rotating speed of feed shaft driving motor. The pressure values provided for seed meter were set at2.5, 3.0, 3.5 and 4KPa on human-machine interface, and suction hole diameters of seeding plate were set at 2.5, 3, 3.5mm, and rotating speeds of feed shaft driving motor were set at 37.6, 47.0, 56.4 r/min, accordingly, the air-suction precision cottonseed-metering device was started with simulated cotton planter travel speed of 2.0, 2.5, 3.0 km/h. The bench test results showed that the chamber pressure, the suction hole diameter of seeding plate, and the rotating speed of feed shaft driving motor have significant effects on the ratio of the seeding. The best performance with low re-seeding rate and miss seeding rate of air-suction precision cottonseed-metering device was obtained at the pressure values of 3.5-4.0kpa, the suction hole diameters of 3.5mm, the rotating speed of 37.6-47.0r/min. In summary, the results meet the requirements of cotton planting.
