Design and simulation research of ultra high pressure water-jets pre-opener for no-till planter

Abstract. In order to solve the problem that the large amount of corn residue usually cause blocking on no-till wheat planter in two-crops-a-year areas in North China. A kind of UHP water-jets pre-opener was designed to improve the anti-blocking effect for no-till planter, UHP water-jets were used for cutting off straw and provided an easy condition for the rear openers to open the furrow for seeding. As the limitation of measuring instruments and UHP water jet cutting environment, the experimental data were hard obtain. So that a simulation model of UHP water jet was established and the change regulation of velocity, pressure, time and position was studied. Therefore a kind of UHP water-jet pre-opener was made and the finite element model of UHP water-jet pre-opener was established to study the process of straw being cut off and Fluent 16.0 was used to numerical calculation. Also, the influence of water-jet inlet pressure on velocity had been analyzed. This study will provide a new approach to blocking problem at no-till planter.
