Abstract. In order to solve the problem of fracture in the process of clam mechanical grading, the stress-deformation curve of the clam shell was obtained by compression test, and the compression limit strength of the clam shell was determined. The influence of rubber tube on reducing the damage of clams was studied by means of finite element simulation. The contact stress between clams and bars of roller was investigated under different models and different speeds. The results showed that the limit strength of the clam shell was 78±5 MPa, and the roller bar wrapped by rubber tube had obvious effect on reducing the damage of clams. When the bar was rubber-free, the limit collision speed of bar and clam was 0.76 m/s, when bar was wrapped by rubber, the limit collision speed of bar and the clam was 4.12 m/s.
