Abstract. A work on management practices towards reduction of construction wastes during farm-house building is presented. Wastages of construction materials during Farm-house construction is a major concern to construction industries in Nigeria. This is mainly due to the high cost of construction materials and the difficulty in disposal of such materials. There is no information readily available about the classification and amount of construction waste generated in the country and other developing countries. This research was conducted to ascertain the problems and proffer effective approaches to management of such wastes. Four Farm-house construction projects were monitored and visited weekly during a twelve month period. Waste was measured and classified. It was established that construction waste can be reduced to a large extent. It was also observed that some materials that were hitherto wasted have the potential of being reused or recycled. It is important that people involved in all stages of construction should be properly trained and educated. Also, the application of concepts involving reduction, recycling and reuse will go a long way in managing the waste generated from farm-house construction.
