Abstract. It is a kind of pasture treatment method widely used by pastoralists in Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. Grass-braid can facilitate the forage drying, transportation and storage. In order to prevent the loosening in the process of grass-braid drying, In this paper, the grass-braid of different moisture content, different single twist, different feeding amount and different plied twist is tested on the universal testing machine by methods of studying the mechanics property of the rope. The results showed that the maximum tension of grass-braid had lower values with the increase of moisture content ranged from 49% to 61%. However, it‘s increased with the increase of single twist and plied twist, respectively. The grass is more difficult to reverse with the increase of feeding quantity in the twisting process. It‘s affected the grass braid twist indirectly.
