Abstract. Cotton is an important strategic material of the country and plays an important role in the national economy. In China, with the seasonal shortage of labor force, cotton picking labor intensity, labor costs continuing to rise, the industry is difficult to maintain and mechanized cotton picking is the only way. The researchson the basic theory of horizontal spindle technology is very important. This article mainly the frictional properties of cotton. The selected cotton was from Xinjiang. The cotton fiber, cotton and cotton seed were numbered A, B,and C. The moisture obtained from the test is that:A 4.91%,B 6.0%,C 7.33%. The test uses a shear apparatus produced by the ELE company in the United States. Experimental results show that the friction angle between cotton and steel plate was maximal. The adhesion between the cotton fiber and the steel plate is the largest.
