Abstract. Ring die of the traditional briquetting machine consists of a number of ring modules, and this structure is difficult to dismantle, expensive to replace and inapplicable to the forage grass. To solve above problems, a new ring type die was designed, which is assembled by die sleeves with the die holes and a fixed ring plate based on a nested structure. The performance test of briquetting machine was carried out. The result was as follow: alfalfa briquette density was 1050.77kg/m3, alfalfa briquette durability was 96.47%, the productivity of machine was 1300kg/h and consumption of electricity per ton was 37kWh/t. The results of performance test showed that each index of the machine reached the designing standard and continuous and stable production was guaranteed.
