Abstract. The soil management is significant for protecting China's food security, promoting agricultural production. The information of soil nutrients is useful for scientific guidance of chemical fertilizer. It can save the cost and improve the efficiency. In this paper, a soil information management system was developed to improve the automation and standardization of the field soil sample information management. A set of field soil sample information recording device is developed based on the radio frequency identification (RFID). The RFID consists of five modules: core module, key module, RFID sensing module, digital transmission module and LCD module. C# language was employed to develop the soil information management system. We can carry out backstage management on the field sample information in label management module. The information input module can realizing on-site batch entry of information. All the data in the database module was based on Microsoft SQL server 2008. Through the information query module, we can get the basic sample information and laboratory sample analysis test results. To test the system, 30 soil samples were collected. We use handwritten, barcode and RFID to input the information. The result showed that the entry time of each sample was 60s, 30s and 20s, and the reading time of each sample was 60s, 10s and 2s. According to the result, the RFID label can record the basic information of the sample and provide the data source for later period, but the cost is higher and is easily affected by the environment.
