Abstract. In practical harvesting working of corn, the width of the top moving knife and cutting edge are reduced because of abrasion of the cuter. Resulting in the changes in the once cutting area, repeated cutting area, failed cutting area of cutting drawing and the motion trajectory. Calculated 3 areas in the cutting drawing by applying the data processing software of MATLAB at abrasion of cutting edge at 0.5mm,1.5mm, 2mm, 2.5mm, 3mm. The results showed that with the increase of abrasion, the area of once cutting area was gradually reduced, and the area of repeated cutting area and failed cutting area were gradually increased, the cutting efficiency was gradually reduced. By determining the cutting process of maize stalk, we built 3D mold with SolidWorks software. The moving knife at different abrasion was imported by using the finite element analyze software ANSYS Workbench with dynamic analysis. The results showed that the cuter couldn‘t cut maize stalks at once when the abrasion of cutting edge was 3mm.
