Abstract. Along with our country's animal husbandry developing, the requirement of forage is rising up. How to efficient harvest and process forage will become the vital research in the future. At present, most Chinese forage storing equipment can't cut and bagging the forage in the production period, so this results in high transport costs, working procedure and the much nutrition loss. This design bases on the silage production situation in our country, on the basis of the technology of the self-propelled silage harvest machine, combined with the bagging silage production process requirements, by means of the research of different methods in the process of the "closed" compaction device forage rheological properties, we innovative designs the spiral forage material compaction device, and determine the optimal structure and technical parameters through the simulation experiment of EDEM. The design of the device can't only improve the labor productivity and make it convenient to feed, but also provide a new method for silage grass harvest storage.
