Abstract. A remote monitoring system based on ZigBee technology is designed to collect the speed signal of the spray machine. The system takes the photoelectric encoder as the speed sensor, the ZigBee node is used to receive the speed signal and calculates the speed value. The ZigBee coordinator receives the speed signal from variable spray controller through the ZigBee wireless network and then transmits speed signal to the remote control server through the 4G module. Due to the poor working environment, especially easy to cause cable breakage, the cable is towed to the operation to bring many inconvenience. In addition, the installation position of some equipment may be adjusted with the change of operating machinery, the complex cable also needs to be re-laid, all these need a large amount of work. So ZigBee wireless technology is used to replace connecting cable, design wireless speed acquisition system, reduce the cost of the equipment, and simplify the use of the procedure. The variable rate sampling system is divided into two parts: the speed sensor and the wireless transmission part. The speed value is collected by the speed sensor and the ZigBee node JN5168. The ZigBee node receives the pulse signal and calculates the speed value. The wireless transmission part is responsible for transmitting the speed value to remote server. The transmission test results show that the maximum error of the system is 3.95%, which can meet the requirement of variable rate fertilization, and can be applied to the variable rate fertilization system.
