Experimental study of decreasing indoor PM2.5 concentration with fine water spray

Abstract. For the current serious fog and haze problems, a program which reduce PM2.5 concentration with the help of air purification system including a box full of fine mist generated by ultrasonic atomizer, washing device and condensing device, etc. was presented in this paper. Then, this experimental system was built up. Several experiments have been finished in the Simulation cabin of 8m3 volume. Experimental results show that the air purification device can make PM2.5 concentration in the simulation cabin, which causing by smoking, decreased by 68.7% in 50 minutes, from 450μg/m3 down to 141μg/m3.However, the humidity and temperature will be slightly increased in the process. Nevertheless, it still has a great advantage to natural sedimentation method. In addition, it does not need to replace filters and other components, so that, this program was a useful attempt in PM2.5 governance engineering.
