Abstract.

Gear is fundamental constituting component to transmit the power. In addition, gears have constant speed ratio, compact structure, and efficiency. However, gearbox system of agricultural tractor was designed to empirical method because it is difficult to measure the precise load cycle under variety operation and soil types. Therefore, Simulation to optimize the design of gear was required. In this study, gears were estimated to safety of bending strength and contact strength durability by using commercial simulation software. Simulation of PTO gear was performed changing the working conditions such as load, rotation speed of shaft. The simulation results showed tractor PTO gear was safely designed and worked efficiently. The results suggested possibility of a cost-effective tractor PTO gear design.
