Effect of spectra preprocessing method on winter wheat chlorophyll content detection

Abstract. In order to detect the chlorophyll content of winter wheat, the spectral reflectance of crop canopy was measurement in the field by ASD FieldSpec HandHeld(350-1075nm)and the chlorophyll content was detect in the lab. Four different preprocessing methods were used to reduce the noise of the spectral data including the first-order differential, second-order differential, first-order differential of Savitzky-Golay filters and first-order differential of Multiplicative Scatter Correction. Correlation analyses were conducted between spectral data before and after preprocessing and chlorophyll contents. Sensitive wavebands used for modeling were selected. Influence of preprocessing methods on the multiple linear regression was studied. The results showed the first-order differential is perfect method for chlorophyll content prediction model. The accuracy of modeling and verifying model reached 0.684 and 0.786 based on 677 and 848nm two sensitive bands. This study could satisfy the demands of evaluating the nutritional status of wheat and precision fertilization.
