Abstract.
Biomass is compressed into pellets can be thought of as the process of the powders gathering, so can be analyzed using the discrete element method. The process of biomass compression in the cylindrical channel with cone angle using a piston is simulated by the EDEM software. It is obtained that with the compression of the piston, the materials density in the cone angle section increases from the inlet of the die hole, but decreases in the cylindrical section. The main reason is the transmission of piston pressure decreases and the reaction from cone angle. Method for filling materials is a few for many times in laboratory experiments can ensure the uniformity of the density and conform to the actual production situation using pellet mills of the ring matrix type.
