Abstract.
Wiring is difficult in the construction of automation water-saving irrigation system on field. In this work, a low power wireless automatic irrigation system was introduced, in order to reduce implementation difficulty of automation water-saving irrigation system. The system works in the public radio frequency band, 433M, which can effectively reduce the impact of crop blocking on the wireless communication, and extend the communication distance. The wireless irrigation system presented in this paper consisted of a wireless valve controller and a signal repeater. Two levels of dry batteries were used to power the wireless valve controller. Wireless communication chip SI4463 and a low power MCU C8051f964 were used to realize the long distance wireless communication with the sleep and wake-up function and adjustable frequency. The work flow between the wireless valve controller and the repeater was studied to reduce the power consumption of the system. Field experiments showed that the communication distance between two points of the wireless irrigation system reached larger than 800 meters. Powered by two dry batteries, the system could work for more than a year. The proposed wireless automatic irrigation method was able to work under many kinds of weather conditions, which was conducive to the popularization and application of water-saving irrigation system.
