Optimization of small seeds cleaning equipment based on CFD-DEM gas-solid coupling

Abstract. Seed cleaning is an important part of the seed processing. The paper aim to improve the purity of grass seeds with the diameter of no more than 3mm by optimizing the aspirating cleaner. In order to improve the existing mechanical structure and simplify the complicated cleaning mechanism, the FLUENT and EDEM software are used to analyze the situation in air shaft of cleaner with and without the cleaning things respectively.Related parameters were selected and the air shaft was optimized based on gas-solid coupling module(i.e.CFD-DEM).According to the result of simulation,the optimal way to change the shape and dimersion of aspirating cleaner is found in the paper.
