Abstract. A survey was conducted to assess the interest and preference of students for “flipped classroom” and conventional “face-to-face” instruction in an “Agrofood Chain Logistics” course. Twenty students were divided at random into two groups. Students took two carefully designed modules of the course in both modes of instruction. The trial was designed in such a way that external effects to the assessment were minimized, such as previous online learning experience, instructor personality, changes in course content and environment over time, and dependency of one module over another. A dual Likert scale survey was conducted once the student completed the materials. The results of the survey appear to indicate a very strong preference by the students for the flipped mode of instruction. However, these preliminary results require further development of the survey to ensure validity and reliability. .
