A Review of Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) Applications for AgriculturePublished by the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers, St. Joseph, Michigan www.asabe.org Citation: 2015 ASABE Annual International Meeting 152189593.(doi:10.13031/aim.20152189593)Authors: Derek Myers, Charles McCauley Ross, Bo Liu Keywords: agricultural aviation, control, remote sensing, image processing, UAS Abstract. The flexibility, availability, and low-cost of ownership and operation has enabled UAS based precision agriculture practices to progress into actual implementation in recent years. The results of recent studies of UAS applications in agriculture indicate that platform design, standardization of image processing, georeferencing, and information interpretation are essential in UAS applications and more work needs to be done. This paper discusses and summarizes the evolution and current state of UAS agricultural applications, provides an overview of various UAS technologies, platforms, and also gives the UAS prospective and utilization issues, such as technology, privacy rights, safety and regulations.
