Android Application for BIRD Sensor and Its Extension for Other SensorsPublished by the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers, St. Joseph, Michigan www.asabe.org Citation: 2015 ASABE Annual International Meeting 152190892.(doi:10.13031/aim.20152190892)Authors: Jagadish Kumar Mahendran, Rui Xu, Changying Li Keywords: Android, smartphones, app. Abstract. The recent developments in smartphone technologies have made smart phones replace desktops/PC laptops in various applications. In the paper we have developed an android application that can communicate and extract the data from a customized sensor which can measure the mechanical impacts that are imposed to blueberries during harvesting, packaging and transporting. The extracted data and the graphical data analysis were compared with the existing PC software developed for the same purpose. The mobile application can replace the existing PC software without using laptops in the field tests. The application performance was measured in term of CPU usage, memory usage, data download speed, battery charge speed and data accuracy. (Download PDF) (Export to EndNotes)
