Abstract. Besides color information, stereo cameras can also provide 3D information. 3D points can be reconstructed from at least two images. A whole-view 3D reconstruction can be conducted through multiple images around the object. Structure from motion using stereo cameras (Stereo_SFM) is used to reconstruct 3D views from small number of images. To make 3D reconstruction from large number of images, Stereo_SFM_Large was applied. A field experiment was conducted to verify the accuracy of this method. Images at 61 views were taken with approximately 10mm increment in a linear way. Experimental result showed that the reconstructed cameras’ distance matched well with actual distance. The average error is 0.97mm. Then another experiment without fixed linear increment was conducted. The result showed a good 3D visualization. Also the cameras’ distance was estimated.
